Many of our patients do not have periodontal disease and were referred by family members and friends. They want to reduce the likelihood of developing periodontal disease and eventual tooth loss. These patients enter our preventive recare program and are seen by our hygienists two to four times a year depending upon their needs. These appointments include a review of oral hygiene, scaling to remove bacterial plaque and calculus (tartar) as well as polishing. The gum pockets are checked to make sure they are not deepening.
